Keto Cereal With Textured Soy Protein
Instead of grains, the keto recipe relies on a common product called textured soy protein. Honestly, this product might become your new best diet buddy because it’s very versatile, high in protein, and you guessed it, low in carbohydrates. Most people use it as a meat extender or replacement, and we’ve found it handy for that as well. However, our new favorite use of TSP is as the base for tasty breakfast cereal.
Make Affordable Keto Cereal in Less Than 10 Minutes
We like to start with about half a cup of textured soy protein to make a few servings at a time. It keeps well in the fridge in a closed container. Honestly, even the non-dieters in the household will snack on it, so I have to check in the morning to make sure there’s any left from the midnight fridge raiders. Honestly, I don’t mind because they’re finding a healthy snack that won’t sabotage healthy diets.
The Low-Carb Cereal Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1/2 Cup Textured Soy Protein
- 2 Tablespoons of powdered no-sugar sweetener (I like allulose)
- 2 Tablespoons of liquid sweetener (I use sugar-free maple syrup)
- Optional mix-ins (I used chopped pecans, coconut flakes, and a generous sprinkle of cinnamon)
Spread parchment paper or foil on a flat baking pan or cookie sheet. Spread out the TSP. Sprinkle with the powdered sweetener and then mix in the liquid sweetener so everything’s lightly covered. If you need to use a little more liquid sweetener to get the job done, go ahead. You can go ahead and taste the concoction to see if you’d like to add a little more
Bake at 350 for 6 minutes to dry out the mixture and set the flavors. Let your cereal mixture cool off a bit and enjoy. You may want to use a low-carb alternative to regular milk, like almond milk or low-carb milk. This delicious breakfast treat perfectly complements yogurt and sliced fruit as well.
Put the rest of you low-carb cereal in a covered dish, stash it in the fridge, and see how long it lasts!
